Title:  Untitled
Description:  The Nehasane station was the private station for the railroad's builder, Dr William Seward Webb. It last saw passenger trains in 1965 and stopped being maintained shortly after. The Webb family heirs donated Lake Lila and the surrounding property to New York State in the early 1980s

Untitled
Title:  Untitled
Description:  After acquisition by the state the area was designated a primitive area and the railroad station and Great Camp it served were deemed "non-conforming structures" under this classification. Wilderness Lodge was removed shortly afterward but the station being in the railroad corridor fell into a grey area and was simply left to rot.

Title:  Untitled
Description:  The sturdy construction and years of top maintenance under Webb family ownership meant the station remained in fairly good condition for several decades. Thae last 10 years have not been so kind as the harsh Adirondack winters have finally caught up to the structure.

Title:  Untitled
Description:  Such a sad state of affairs for what was one the most exclusive railroad station on the line. At one time no passenger could get off a train here without written permission directly from Webb himself.

Untitled
Title:  Untitled
Description:  Nature doesn't seem to be the only culprit to the current condition of the buildings, as it would appear that siding has been removed from the waiting platform, likely by snowmobilers stopping here in the winter and campers on Lake Lila in the summer looking for firewood.

Description:  Lake Lila can be seen through the trees. This was once a clear of vegetation and was quite a view from the window of a train from what I have heard.

Milepost 88
Title:  Milepost 88
Description:  Milepost 88 is currently just a post. When the original mileposts on the line needed replacement in the New York Central days they were replaced with concrete ones. In later years, either under NYC or New York State ownership they were replaced with sign posts with metal painted signs on top. Many in this stretch seem to have plywood instead of metal and this is sometimes the result.

Untitled
Title:  Untitled
Description:  This section has a considerable amount of stone ballast which is not typical of this line under New York Central ownership. Considering the amount of pressure treated "Olympic Ties" also in the area I suspect this section needed lots of work under Adirondack Railway care in 1979-80.

Untitled
Title:  Untitled
Description:  I didn't get a close up picture, but contractors have already replaced a rail in this section and have installed dozens of new spikes to make the track passable for work trains. Rumor has it the brush contractor the state hired several years ago to prepare for the track rehab did a lot of damage to the gauge because they used rubber tired vehicles instead of hi-rail equipped ones.

Rainor Brook bridge
Title:  Rainor Brook bridge
Description:  A very short bridge over Rainor Brook with a very serious set of guide rails. Snowmobilers have built plywood sides to help keep snow on the bridge in the winter and they have deteriorated very badly and were unsafe to walk on.
