Album Info:Long overdue to post these pics. The following album is from a hiking trip I took on September 26, 2012 from Big Moose NY to Beaver River NY on the out of service (public) section of the Adirondack Scenic Railroad. Service had not yet been restored to Big Moose although track work was happening at a fast pace and regular service returned in the spring. The section in this album however is north of the current end of service section and is the next planned section for expansion. Total distance from Big Moose to Beaver River is about eight miles. The day was longer then expected and the next time I return it will hopefully be by train. Note: the Adirondack Scenic Railroad Operates on the New York State Remsen-Lake Placid transportation corridor which is designated for multi use which allows usage on the non-active sections. In no way do I encourage hiking on active rail lines.

Welcome to Beaver River
Title:  Welcome to Beaver River
Description:  Beaver River has the distintion of being the only town in New York that you can't drive to. The only ways in are by a 9 mile hiking trail, boat across the Stillwater Reservoir or by the railroad (service not yet restored). The vehicles you see here were brought in by barge. Many residents here hold permits to operate Hi-Rail vehicles from Big Moose.

Norridgewock III
Title:  Norridgewock III
Description:  The Norridgewock III is the other establishment in Beaver River. It a nice place with reasonable prices and cold beer. It is unfortunately owned and operated by one of the very active and vocal individuals that is trying to get the railroad removed. We waited until we were leaving to mention that we support restoration of rail service.
